South Carolina FIRST LEGO League & Robotics Education, Inc.

sc-fll-logoIn October of 2011, a group of interested parties formed South Carolina FIRST LEGO League & Robotics Education, Inc. and became the Affiliate Partner for FIRST LEGO League and FIRST LEGO League Junior in South Carolina.

South Carolina FIRST LEGO League & Robotics Education, Inc. supports the development of future scientists and engineers through robotics and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education. We are the Affiliate Partner in South Carolina for FIRST LEGO League and FIRST LEGO League Junior.  The President of our Board also acts as the Affiliate Partner.  As the FIRST LEGO League Partner in South Carolina we are responsible for:

  • Providing overall leadership, direction, management and communication of the FIRST LEGO League andFIRST LEGO League Junior programs in South Carolina
  • Administering the FIRST LEGO League program standards with regards to refereeing, judging, and awards in South Carolina
  • Delivering FIRST LEGO League and FIRST LEGO League Junior programs guided by the Core Value of Gracious Professionalism
  • Ensuring kids have fun and their work is respected!
  • Maintaining quality global standards for tournaments and program administration
  • The South Carolina FIRST LEGO League Tournament system
  • Hosting the State Championship Tournament
  • Conducting coach training
  • Raising awareness of FIRSTFIRST LEGO League and FIRST LEGO League Junior in the community
  • Helping generate new teams and new sponsorships
  • Representing FIRST LEGO League Junior and FIRST LEGO League while interacting with other FIRST programs
  • Setting goals with FIRST and LEGO for program growth in South Carolina
  • Sharing program information from FIRST Headquarters in New Hampshire with interested parties in South Carolina

The overall goal of South Carolina FIRST LEGO League & and Robotics Education, Inc. is to stimulate students’ interest and capabilities in STEM fields, thereby increasing the pool of talented and skilled students who pursue careers in these areas.

Our team works with South Carolina school districts, individual schools, teachers, parents and community groups to provide support needed to effectively and provocatively teach K-12 STEM through the implementation of FIRST programs. South Carolina FIRST LEGO League & Robotics Education, Inc. is engaged in education through – professional development for teachers, enrichment activities for students, and public advocacy – all designed to engage and inspire students in STEM fields.

South Carolina FIRST LEGO League & Robotics Education, Inc. knows that STEM education is a key component in developing a healthy economy for our state.

Since 2010, South Carolina has experienced an increase in team growth in FIRST LEGO League Junior  and FIRST LEGO League teams.  Shown below is our growth history since 2010 for the FIRST LEGO League program.  We hope to continue this type of growth, and offer FIRST to every community in South Carolina.
